Winchmore String Orchestra

Winchmore String Orchestra was founded in 1991 by Bertha and Stanley Lishak and has been playing a wide repertoire of music from baroque to the present day for two decades, including work by local contemporary composers Roderick Elmer and Frank Bayford.

Orchestra members come together from all age groups and all walks of life, to enjoy making music. Our present conductor is Philip Gibson who has been with us since April 2011 and Chris Gundry is our leader.

The orchestra rehearses every Thursday from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at Winchmore Hill Methodist Church and is always happy to welcome new players of about Grade V standard or above. Violas, 'Cellos and Double Bassists are especially welcome.

The orchestra performs three concerts a year at Winchmore Hill Methodist Church. More information about the Orchestra and forthcoming concerts are available on our website and on
