I'm Richard Newcombe and I run the North London Schools of Tae Kwon-Do, with classes for all ages and abilities, in the local area. I am a 3rd Degree Black Belt and have taught many British champions, a European champion and a World Bronze medallist.
Tae Kwon-Do is an ancient form of unarmed combat practiced for many centuries in the orient, but is still very relevant to the modern world.
In short Tae Kwon-Do means Foot, Hand, Way
TAE - means to jump, kick or smash with the foot.
KWON - means a fist, to punch or destroy with the hand or fist.
DO - means art, way or method.
Tae Kwan-Do is derived from several martial arts; the pace is fast and it teaches students a wide range of important skiils, including the ability to control your body, concentrate, focus and anticipate. Taw Kwon Do teaches self defence but also provides your body with an intense aerobic and anaerobic work out; which is good for your heart and lungs; building strength and exercising a wide range of core muscles, as well as the brain. Some of my students are recreational followers, familes can even train together; whilst some students go on to compete in high level competitions.
Our Tae Kwon-Do classes take place in a safe environment, students are fully supervised by my qualified team. You begin by learning pre-arranged movements against imaginary opponents, before advancing at a pace which suits your individual requirements. All contact is strictly controlled.
