North London Organic Gardeners

North London Organic Gardeners

North London Organic Gardeners are a group of like minded people who believe in gardening without the use of chemical fertilisers and poisonous sprays.

We make compost and believe that by looking after the soil and feeding it we can grow strong, healthy plats which are more resistant to pests and diseases. We also use other organic techniques, such as companion planting, to reduce the attention of insect pests and elp each other with the various problems we face in our gardens and allotments.

Each year we hold a plant sale in Winchmore Hill. Everybody helps by supplying plants that are they have grown, or cuttings they have taken. The result is a marvellous mix of herbs, vegetable plants, annuals and perennials, fruit bushes and house plants etc. We are becoming well known for our plant sale, our plants are reasonably priced and of good quality. The proceeds keep us going financially for the year, enabling us to pay our expenses and organise occasional outings and trips.

During the colder months we normally meet at 8pm on the first Thursday of the month in the small hall, Winchmore Hill Baptist Church, Compton Road. At these meetings we discuss our gardening plans, problems, successes and sometimes have visiting speakers. During the summer we often visit members' gardens and make trips to local plces of gardening and horticultural interest.
