Let The People Sing

I'm Simon Gilbert, choir master, voice coach and founder of "Let The People Sing!" and The Community Singers, a local choir group based in Winchmore Hill and Milfield Arts Centre,

After a long and fruitful career in musicals and operas, including many West End productions and recordings, I wanted to share my love of singing with my local community, so I set up my first local 'Let The People Sing' in February 2012 and now have two choirs, including one which meets in Holy Trinity Church Hall on Green Lanes (opposite Sainsburys) on Monday mornings, from 11am - 1pm.

Singing gladdens the heart, exercises your lungs and enables you to participate with others to create a wonderful sound. Let The People Sing brings people together to learn wonderful songs, in a warm and extremely friendly atmosphere. There is no audition to join, you do not need to be able to read music, as many tunes will already be familiar and we learn new songs and harmonies in bite sized chunks.

Some of our current favourites include Edelweiss, True Love, Consider Yourself, Morning Has Broken, Bright Eyes, Unforgettable, On The Street, Unforgettable, No Business Like Show Business and loads more more. You will have fun, get your week off to a great start and maybe even make some new friends!

We give regular charity concerts, our most recent in the Dugale Centre was a sell out, so watch out for news of future performances on n21online.com.

In addition to running the community choir I also give private singing lessons and voice coaching, including advice on public speaking to help you to give your best performance on the big day, whether it is a business event or an important family occasion, like a wedding.

Sessions are £5, so come along and join in.

You can find out more about me and my work on my website and if you click on the video below you can hear me singing The Impossible Dream.

Fortunately for me, my dream of getting people to sing was possible.

Come along and join us!

If you did start an evening choir in N21 (hopefully somewhere near Grange Park - which will have a new church hall by the end of the year!) I would be interested to have details.

    Thank you
