Grange Park Horticultural Society
Grange Park Horticultural Society, which started its days back in 1941 in the Dig for Victory Campaign, is thriving, but welcomes new members.
Our trading hut on the Cheyne Walk Allotments is a hub of activity on Sunday mornings in season. Around half the members of GPHS are allotment members. Sadly there isn't room for all who would like an allotment, there is a waiting list. Our society is open to anyone in Grange Park who is interested in growing food and gardening.
We are inviting new Members, and subscriptions are only £3 per annum. This entitles members to benefit from being able to use our Trading Hut and buy seeds within our bulk order scheme later in the year. Free hire of heavier garden tools is available too. We also have occasional social events. Membership also entitles "two-for-one" entry into Capel Manor Gardens and 30% off two entries into RHS gardens, with a special card.
We hold an annual Show every September. This is the Society's most prestigious event and is, we are told, one of the best Horticultural Shows in the area. It is usually graced by the presence of a notable person. For example, over the past few years it has been the presiding Mayor of Enfield.
There are classes for everyone – Vegetables, Fruit, Preserves, Cookery, Flowers, and a special section for youngsters under the age of fourteen years.
Anyone interested in joining our local Society should contact Evelyn Craven, our secretary or download our Membership form here
