Enfield Embroiderers Guild
The Enfield and District branch of the Embroiderers' Guild was formed in 1982 and is part of the South East Region of the Guild. We currently have about 40 members of varying ages and ability.
We are a relaxed and friendly group and there is always someone to help with work and to chat to about embroidery and textile arts.
Monthly meetings are held in the Orchard Room, Church In The Orchard, with a lively mixture of lectures, stitching and social events.
We meet on the 2nd Wednesday, Apr - Oct, 7.30 - 9.30pm
The 2nd Saturday, Nov - Mar, 2.30 - 4.30pm.
We have regular sales tables when it is possible to find "must have" books, threads and embroidery equipment. We also have a library of embroidery books to borrow. During the year we hold workdays when we invite experienced tutors to teach us new techniques and shed new light on old ones. These are mixed ability and we welcome those new to stitching.
Several workshops are also held each year at Oakwood Methodist Church and occasional exhibitions at Forty Hall
Please visit our website for our programme of events, our newsletter and to view the gallery of photographs of work by our members. We hold exhibitions at Forty Hall. New members are welcome.
Also part of our guild are the Young Embroiderers, aged 8-18 who want to explore modern textile creativity. Their meetings are are held at the Friends Meeting House, Church Hill, on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10am to 12-30am.
