The proof is in the picture

Last year I ordered a bunch of flowers from a leading high street retailer's website to be delivered to my daughter. A few days later I got to see the flowers, which certainly didn't match up to the website picture! Feeling aggrieved I phoned the company, more for my own satisfaction than in the expectation of any recompense, making a mental note never to order from them again.

Here's a nice idea for local florists and possibly other small businesses in the gift business.

A florist in New Zealand, called Roses Are Red emails pictures of the bouquets they are delivering, to the customer that ordered it, so that you can see exactly what your money has paid for. A nice touch, it takes only seconds to take a picture and send it to a customer, but it helps to make the transaction more memorable, reflecting the personal service that only an independent business can deliver and builds trust.
