Food businesses seem to be the flavour of the month on n21online at the moment. However we all have to eat everyday and one of the hardest part of cooking is the planning what to cook and the shopping for ingredients – cooking is the easy bit. Its the reason why ready meals have done so well in recent years.

For people who want real food however, there is more healthy ‘meal solution’.  Companies supplying receipe kits are cropping up all over the place. German company Kochhaus  “Cooking House” , launched in September 2010, describes itself as  “the walk-in recipe book in Berlin “. It is a shop which displays a series of packages that include a recipe and just the right quantities of all the necessary ingredients, using local and organic ingredients whenever possible.  It focuses on around displays 20 recipes at any one time, each displayed on a table with the associated ingredients.

Starters, salads, soups, main courses and desserts are all represented in the mix on any given day and they guarantee that no dish takes more than one hour to prepare. Individual ingredients and wines are available in the shop too, as well as pans, bowls and other implements. Wine-tastings and cooking workshops are on the way. Meals are purchased by the portion, with delivery available in the local area.

In Sweden, a company called Middax delivers five dinner recipes each week plus corresponding ingredients, right to the customer's door. Middax has developed  its recipes so that they are nutritious, delicious and easy to prepare and also claim that they take no more than 30 minutes to cook. Does that sound familiar?

Middax claims that it tests its recipes on at least 10 local families before incorporating them into its service, taking particular care to ensure that they're suitable for children. Ingredients, meanwhile, are sourced locally whenever possible, and Middax guarantees that at least half the ingredients in any week's bag are organic. Each designed to serve four people, recipes are printed on thick, durable paper suitable for saving.  The delivery service makes this even more valuable for people who want good food, have limited time and perhaps can throw a bit of money at the problem.
