November 28th and 29th sees the launch of Enfield's first Food Festival

 

The festival is being organised by Capel Manor's Forty Hall Farm and Winchmore Hill's The Food Gatherer, along with other Enfield food business owners Roz Lishak and Karen Nash.

 

The Festival is being held at Forty Hall Farm, home to Enfield's very own vineyard, a community orchard and a large organic market garden. The Farm is committed to producing top quality, local food so it's the perfect setting for the event.  For the past two years, Emma Lundie, aka The Food Gatherer has been enabling local people to buy food produced by growers and specialist independents in Enfield via the Food Gatherer website.

 

"The Enfield Food Festival is an extension of the work of The Food Gatherer, it's another way of bringing together fantastic local produce to showcase what we have on offer in the borough. The Festival will be a family friendly event, with a big emphasis on great food and drink and the sharing of craft skills for cooking and baking at home. We've got a children's taste trail too to encourage a new generation of young foodies who care about their food and where it comes from".

 

We have about 30 stalls of producers and street food sellers, some of them very local, such as award winning Holtwhites Bakery and of course produce from Forty Hall Farm and a few from our neighbouring boroughs such as Wildes Cheese, the urban cheesemakers, who will also be showing us mozzarella stretching in the Demo Barn! There will be plenty of great food to enjoy during your visit, to take home or order for Christmas. The Food Gatherer will also be taking orders for home delivery of turkeys from Peatchey Butchers too! There will be lots of taste and try, see our list of stalls here

The Demo barn will be compered by former Great British Bake Off contestant Urvashi Roe, owner of the Library Café. There is a timetable of talks and demonstrations from how to bake sourdough bread, smoking foods at home and learn about wine matching with Tulip Hambleton of Eco Vino Teatro in the Dugdale Centre. There will be cooking demonstrations from Chef Ade of the renowned Petersham Hotel who trained under Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing and is overseeing the kitchen at new Enfield bistro Orchid 54; plus the New River Restaurant's Jason Sutton who'll be showing visitors how to cook a cost effective slow roast pork to feed many mouths!

There's plenty for your little ones at the Enfield Food Festival, with a dedicated indoor children's area with craft activities to keep the small ones busy and war and a kid's food taste trail designed by our friends at Anorak Magazine – explore the producers food market and try new flavours and foods!

 

All of the demos and children's trail are included in the entrance price, so great value.
